In the Works: Shampoo Bars

I just unmolded my first batch of shampoo bars.  I’m really excited to see how these turn out!  They were made with a lot of nourishing oils, so they’ll need to cure for 8 weeks – which a bit longer than regular cold process soaps.

Also, they smell fantastic.  I used a combination of Rosemary & Peppermint Essential Oils, as well as Tea Tree Oil.  Each of those oils are individually beneficial for hair/scalp, but together…it’s a healthy hair/scalp super trinity!

Citric acid was added to slightly lower pH level for a more head-friendly bar of soap.  DL-Panthenol, a.k.a. Pro-Vitamin B5, will ensure that your hair and scalp retain moisture.

  1. I have a dry scalp, and tea tree oil and rosemary oil I know are great for that. That’s one of the reasons I like to use homemade soap for my hair. It comforts my scalp, and the oils nourish and help protect my hair. I can’t wait to try it!

    • That’s what is so great about Tea Tree and Rosemary – they’re great for oily scalp too, which is what I have. I wanted to make kind of a universal shampoo bar, and I’m hoping that these fit the bill. 8 more weeks and we shall see!
